Faculty of Education Visits Hanshan Normal University for Support and Exchange

To deeply implement the guidance of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee’s Organization Department and the Provincial Party Committee’s Education Working Committee on the “team-based” support for higher education talents, and to carry out the university’s overall deployment of “team-based” assistance, the Faculty of Education has initiated a new phase of educational support for Hanshan Normal University. On May 6–7, 2024, Professor Li Chen, Party Secretary of the Faculty of Education, and Professor Cao Xiaoming, Deputy Director, visited Hanshan Normal University to conduct a support exchange.


On the morning of May 7, at the invitation of Hanshan Normal University and the Guangdong Provincial Center for Primary and Secondary School Teacher Development, Professor Li Chen gave an academic lecture titled “The Logic and Path of Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching”. Professor Li delivered an insightful and accessible analysis of the practical needs and paths of interdisciplinary teaching in the context of the new curriculum standards. Through numerous vivid real-life examples, he presented a high-quality academic report that was both rich in content and highly instructive. In his lecture, Professor Li emphasized that interdisciplinary teaching is the key lever for implementing the new curriculum and reflects the high expectations for teachers in the new curriculum reform. He encouraged primary and secondary school teachers to enhance their interdisciplinary teaching capabilities in three key areas: interdisciplinary curriculum design, implementation, and assessment. The event was hosted by Lin Haoliang, Dean of the College of Continuing Education at Hanshan Normal University and Executive Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Primary and Secondary School Teacher Development. Professor Zhang Ende, from the Teachers’ Alliance for Subject Teaching at Hanshan Normal University, gave a summary of the event.

After the lecture, Professor Li and his team had an in-depth discussion with Huang Jingzhong, Vice President of Hanshan Normal University, Lin Haoliang, Dean of the College of Continuing Education, Professor Zhang Ende, and Professor Xue Shenglan from Hanshan Normal University on topics such as educational research collaboration, joint graduate training, and strengthening subject construction exchanges.


In the afternoon of May 7, the Shenzhen University team visited the School of Education Science at Hanshan Normal University to guide subject development, project applications, and the cultivation of award-winning research achievements. Leaders from the School of Education Science and some key research faculty members of Hanshan Normal University attended the event.

Teachers from the School of Education Science shared their experiences and challenges in research direction selection, project applications, and research paper writing. Professor Li Chen and Professor Cao Xiaoming reviewed and provided detailed feedback on each project proposal and answered questions from the teachers. Professor Li particularly emphasized that research topics in educational sciences at Hanshan Normal University should be aligned with current educational hot topics and major issues facing education in China, and should focus on interdisciplinary research. Professor Xue Shenglan, Dean of the School of Education Science, expressed hope that through more research collaborations with the Faculty of Education at Shenzhen University, the college’s research level could be further enhanced.


Relevant leaders of the School of Education Science at Hanshan Normal University stated that this exchange activity is an important measure to implement the school’s 2024 meeting spirit on subjects, talents, and research work. They will use this exchange as an opportunity to actively engage in organized research to improve the subject construction and research capacity of the college.


The Faculty of Education highly values the “team-based” support initiative. It has already promoted various collaborative activities, including joint party building, assistance with applying for master’s programs, strengthening subject construction and talent development cooperation, and co-hosting high-level academic conferences. This event further facilitated the advancement of related work at Hanshan Normal University. Moving forward, the Faculty of Education will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Hanshan Normal University’s education disciplines, ensuring the successful implementation of educational support initiatives.
