Delegation from University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Visits Shenzhen University

On July 11, 2024, a delegation from the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, led by President Nguyen Quy Thanh, Vice Dean of the School of Quality Management Vu Trong Luong, and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education Le Hai Anh, visited Shenzhen University for an academic exchange. The delegation was warmly received by Vice President Zhang Xiaohong of Shenzhen University, along with Jin Yule, Director of the Faculty of Education, Li Chen, Party Secretary, and Li Shuying, Dean of the Institute of Educational Research, among others.    



At the meeting, Vice President Zhang Xiaohong extended a warm welcome to President Nguyen Quy Thanh and his delegation. She introduced the history of Shenzhen University's development, its academic structure, international cooperation in talent cultivation, and the outstanding achievements the university has made in teaching and research, higher education reform, and innovation and entrepreneurship education over the past 41 years. She emphasized the important position of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, as the first modern university established in Vietnam, and expressed hope that the two universities would collaborate further in the field of higher education.                                                       



President Nguyen Quy Thanh expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and congratulated Shenzhen University on its impressive achievements in modernizing higher education. Following this, Jin Yule, Director of Shenzhen University’s Faculty of Education, provided a detailed introduction of the faculty’s work in discipline development, teaching, faculty development, and academic research. He expressed hopes for cooperation in areas such as faculty training, student exchange, and joint research.


After the meeting, President Nguyen Quy Thanh and Dr. Nguyen Phung Tam delivered an insightful lecture titled "The Education System and Teacher Education in Vietnam" to the faculty and students of Shenzhen University’s Faculty of Education. The lecture explored the evolution of Vietnam’s education system from the feudal era to the present day, focusing on the current status and challenges of teacher education. It covered the historical development of education in Vietnam, including educational priorities during the French colonial period, post-1945 educational development, and educational reforms from 1976 to the present. The lecture highlighted two typical models of teacher education: the traditional “Professional Teaching + Teacher Education” parallel model and the emerging “3+1” (three years of professional teaching + one year of teacher education) continuous model, showcasing Vietnam's innovation and practices in teacher training.

                                                       



The visit of the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has not only deepened mutual understanding between the two universities but also laid a solid foundation for future educational collaboration. Shenzhen University and its Faculty of Education look forward to expanding cooperation with the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in areas such as educational research, teacher training, and faculty-student exchange, jointly promoting the development of education.
