From August 23 to 27, 2026, at the invitation of the Education Bureau of Chayu County, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, a delegation led by Professor Cao Xiaoming, Vice-dean of the Faculty of Education, Shenzhen University, and Associate Professor Kong Xiangyuan, Head of the Department of Education, visited Chayu County, the site of the “Yue-Lin” (Guangdong–Nyingchi) university-local co-construction base of Shenzhen University, to conduct research on educational assistance to Tibet and provide teacher training.
Accompanied by Chen Feng, Deputy Director of the Chayu County Education Bureau and a Tibet-support cadre, the delegation conducted an in-depth study of the county’s needs for university-local cooperation. The delegation visited schools including the frontier school, Central Primary School of Xia Chayu Town, and Chayu County Middle School, interviewed principals of primary and secondary schools, and held discussions with relevant officials of Chayu County and the Education Bureau. Through these activities, the delegation gained an understanding of the current state of education in Chayu County from multiple perspectives, including ideological and political education, the digital transformation of education, science and technology education, AI education, and teacher professional development, further clarifying the county’s educational characteristics and needs.
To accelerate the digital transformation of education in Chayu County, enhance teachers’ ability to apply AI in teaching, and make solid preparations for the First Teacher AI Innovation and Application Competition of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Professor Cao Xiaoming conducted a special training session on AI education on the afternoon of August 25 at the invitation of the Chayu County Education Bureau. Professor Cao provided a systematic overview of trends in AI education and models for cultivating innovative talent in AI, explained in depth the classroom application of AI technologies and pathways for leveraging AI to advance educational reform, and demonstrated on site the major ways in which AI can empower education and teaching.
The training adopted a combination of on-site instruction and centralized online participation, with the main venue at Chayu County Middle School. Teachers from the education systems of Bayi District, Bomi County, Gongbo’gyamda County, and Medog County participated online. Primary and secondary schools and kindergartens throughout Chayu County, as well as the neighboring four counties/districts, established online sub-venues via Tencent Meeting. More than 580 participants attended the training in total, including more than 130 in person at the main venue and more than 450 at the online sub-venues. The training fully leveraged the outreach and demonstration role of regional educational resources and helped establish a new model for cross-county sharing of high-quality educational resources. The training session was met with an enthusiastic response, with frequent and active audience engagement. Chayu Morning News, Chayu County Television, and other local media outlets provided special coverage of the training.
The educational assistance research and teacher training further deepened university-local cooperation between the two sides and clarified the direction for future joint efforts. Going forward, Shenzhen University will further strengthen overall planning and expand cooperation with Chayu County in such areas as ideological and political education, science and technology education, AI education, and teacher professional development, working together to establish a new model of university-local cooperation.
Shenzhen University and the People’s Government of Chayu County, Nyingchi, Tibet, signed the Framework Agreement between Shenzhen University and the People’s Government of Chayu County on the Joint Development of a Practical Education Base for College Students’ Ideological and Political Education in July 2017, April 2021, and August 2025. The agreements cover the joint development of a practical education base for college students’ ideological and political education, teacher training for primary and secondary school teachers and education administration officials in Chayu County, and the assignment of Shenzhen University faculty and students to Tibet for internship-based teaching. For many years, Shenzhen University has welcomed education administration officials, primary and secondary school principals, and subject teachers from Chayu County to Shenzhen to participate in half-month teacher training programs and receive on-the-job training at affiliated schools. To date, six sessions of the “Shenzhen University–Chayu County, Tibet Core Teacher Capacity Enhancement Program” have been successfully held, providing training for 54 participants from Chayu County.
