On the evening of May 16, 2026, the Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series of the Faculty of Education was held in Conference Room A412 of Huide Building. Xiong Zhang, Director of the National Key Research Base for Primary and Secondary School Information Technology Textbooks at Beihang University, delivered a lecture titled Artificial Intelligence and Educational Transformation. The lecture was chaired by Cao Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Education, and attended by faculty members and students.

At the beginning of the lecture, Xiong Zhang, guided by the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, elaborated on the significance of artificial intelligence for global development and emphasized China’s distinctive contributions to the advancement of artificial intelligence applications. He noted that Chinese youth represent the future of “AI+” in China and that artificial intelligence presents a major opportunity for education. He further proposed promoting artificial intelligence education across all stages of education while continuously enhancing teachers’ professional competencies and fostering innovative educational models. Xiong Zhang stressed that artificial intelligence should be integrated into all elements, processes, and contexts of education, thereby promoting the multidimensional and healthy development of the ecosystem of artificial intelligence in education. Against this backdrop, both teachers’ and students’ roles and learning approaches are undergoing transformation. Teachers should develop into educators with strong professional ethics and competence in applying artificial intelligence in teaching, while students should continue to grow through self-directed, project-based, immersive, inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, and collaborative learning. Finally, Xiong Zhang emphasized that educational assessment in the era of artificial intelligence should shift toward formative, diversified, holistic, and developmental evaluation.

At the conclusion of the lecture, Cao Xiaoming stated that Professor Xiong Zhang’s insightful perspectives on artificial intelligence in education greatly inspired faculty members and further strengthened their commitment to research in this field.
